LAB's Mission
Learning About Business, Inc. exists to provide selected students with an interactive and enjoyable experience leading to a clearer understanding and a greater appreciation of the free-enterprise system. Learning About Business, Inc. (LAB) is a non-profit organization which has been in existence for over a quarter of a century. The organization hosts an annual business education gaming program called LAB Week. This program provides select high school students an appreciation for the world of business. The premise for this experience is a week long 'camp' where, in effect, the students get a mini MBA through the help of 100+ business volunteers from the community. The LAB Advisory Board, in hand with area business professionals, recognizes that the young people of today are our community's most significant investment. Through this unique and interactive program, students embrace key business concepts such as; Business Fundamentals, Management, Marketing & Advertising, Entrepreneurship, International Business, and Investing. By providing this opportunity for the students, the more prepared they will, in turn, be to contribute to the community. This concept is the passion that has long been a hallmark of LAB and remains the organizations focus to continue to deliver this award winning program to Northeast Ohio. The LAB program is offered each summer on the campus of Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio, and is available to high school sophomores and juniors with an interest in business.
